RE: '03 Rincon 650 Good Buy?

I have a chance to buy a '03 Rincon 650 for $4,000. Less than 1k miles. Excellent condition. Elderly gentleman owner passed away and wife wants to sell. Were there any particular problems with this machine and is this a good buy?
Thanks to all who reply.
Great machine, and I would recommend it wholeheartedly, but not a dime over $3500. They were only approximately $6,300.00 new back in 2003. Its going on six years old. I won't say you're being ripped off at 4 grand, but I wouldn't do it.
By the way, I recommend this machine based on my knowledge from having owned one.

RE: Anybody Have Experience with ATV Track Systems?

There is potentially one problem. New England is very unreliable when it comes to snowfall. We have winters with consistent ground cover, and then we have winters where we barely get any snow, especially in the region GreGrizz and I live in. If you don't want to trailer a sled 3 or 4 hours north, we sometimes have winters when you will never be able to ride. The Traxx system would give him all the flexibility he needs on his Grizzly. That is a valid point Chris. I always hope for a cold Winter, so the lakes ice in quickly. The problem with last Winter, is that we got a ton of snow along with it. I can go on bare ice, pulling a sled with my Grizz, no problem. But when I run into 3-4' drifts, I'm done for. A trac system would be great, but I think with a sled, I could pick the machine, for the appropriate conditions. If I can find a reliable sled for $2500-$3000, that would be great.
Look around. You can find em a lot cheaper than that. I have seen 340cc-400cc touring sleds n excellent condition for around $1,500.00.
Hey Grizz, whats say we saddle up in Dunbarton this coming Sunday.

RE: Hanging with who brung us to the dance...

While I do not currently ride a Honda, I will say this. If I were going to go looking for a used machine, my first instinct would be to look for a Honda, particularly the Rancher/Foreman/Rubicon. I have owned Kawasakis, Hondas, Yamahas, and now a Zuki. I can honestly say none of the Kawis, Yamahas, or Zukis has held up against wear and tear like my Hondas did. I am extremely disappointed in the Suzuki in particular. This thing is just plain fragile. Honda is missing the boat on a few things, no doubt, but reliability and longevity is Hondas cornerstone. Anyone who thinks a Grizzly, King Quad, or Brute Force will last just as long as a Foreman, or take the abuse a Foremen will without breaking, obviously hasn't tried it. I have owned three Hondas. I have owned a Grizz and 2 King Quads. I have more repair dollars in the Yamaha and Suzuki I currently ride than I ever put into all three Hondas combined. This is Hondas legacy, so I would concur with the gentleman from Georgia.......in this particular instance. :B
My polaris Magnum 2x4 has withstood one hell of a beating , and made it through so many "rough" times. ITs seen over 50 gallons of corn through her , and been flipped swamped smashed numerous time. Still Fires up , still takes a beating , still able to Stunt! (for those of you who dont know what stuntin' is , GOOGLE it.)
Polarises are nothing if not rugged. While every manufacturer has experienced its setbacks, I think Polaris kinda got a bum deal in the bad rep department. They've made huge strides in recent years.

RE: Not a toy hauler, but it'll work.

That would work, just use that one. We've just got one thats about 36" x 60" that we put a generator on if needed. My dad was thinking about pulling the boat behind his. Can you imagine that train. F350 pulling a 38ft 5th wheel with a 21ft boat behind it....try parking that.
Driving that setup would be my idea of fun.
I would fabricate a smaller platform....or cut this one down. I built it a lot bigger than I needed to.

Chag,go pedal your maple syrup!,BTW hows the hotdog stand doing? You still selling coleslaw for New Hampshire icecream?
Blastefan, I think you're right, cuz willie knows I don't do anything with maple syrup, I don't own a hot dog stand, and I don't sell ice cream at all................yet he comes up with a post like that.
If he's not on meds, he sure as heck should be.

No double standard. There was never anything mentioned about race. If you had posted that, it still would not be racism. Again, no double standard at all. 2-Late just posts more intelligently than you do.

RE: Not a toy hauler, but it'll work.

Looks nice and you got a good deal. Check with some RV dealers near you and see about getting a hitch reciever mounted on the back for one of those hitch mounted atv carriers. We've got one on the back of ours for a generator or other supplies. We've yet to pull a trailer behind it...but we havent been that brave yet. Have fun with it.
Most of those hitch mounted carriers are made more for lighter sport quads, and a 600 pound machine pushes the capacity limits. I could, of course, weld one up, as I did for my truck.

If I lived 2,000 miles further west, it would be sitting on Gecko Road as I type this.

Not a toy hauler, but it'll work.

Stumbled across this seven year old 5th wheel. Older couple only used it a few times. Immaculate. It goes with me wherever we are working, and eventually will serve as a means for a vacation week here and there. Its a 34 footer. Original MSRP was 56K. I paid just under 20K.
What the hell, you only live once. Can't wait for the first vacation in it....hopefully a few weeks down south next fall.

RE: Anybody Have Experience with ATV Track Systems?

Actually snow dust can really suck sometimes, and I can see where that might be an issue.
I think fender extensions would be a "must have", but even so, they donn't really turn that fast. If you're dressed right with a full face helmet, whats the big deal? Maybe I'm not understanding fully.

RE: Anybody Have Experience with ATV Track Systems?

Hmm...something just occurred to me. On a Can Am, you probably could never achieve enough slippage with the front traxx for Visco Lock to engage, which means no diff lock, which means one front track is just dead weight, and pure rolling resistance. Perosnally, I would only have traxx on a machine with power steering, cuz they must require a bit of effort to turn, especially with the diff locked.
